Simple Past Tense (Geçmiş Zaman) Nedir?
İngilizcede Simple Past Tense, geçmişte belirli bir zamanda başlayıp bitmiş olan eylemleri anlatmak için kullanılır. Yani eylem artık tamamlanmıştır ve şu an ile bir bağı kalmamıştır. Türkçedeki -di’li geçmiş zaman (yaptım, gittim, gördüm) ile birebir örtüşür.
1. Düzenli Fiiller (Regular Verbs)
Düzenli fiilleri geçmiş zamana dönüştürmek oldukça kolaydır; fiilin sonuna -ed takısı getirilir. Örneğin:
- Play -> Played
- Watch -> Watched
Örnek Cümle: I watched a movie last night. (Dün gece bir film izledim.)
2. Düzensiz Fiiller (Irregular Verbs)
Bazı fiiller ise kural tanımaz ve tamamen değişirler. Bunları ezberlemek gerekir. Örneğin ‘go’ fiili ‘goed’ olmaz, ‘went’ olur.
- Go -> Went
- Eat -> Ate
- See -> Saw
Örnek Cümle: She went to school yesterday. (O, dün okula gitti.)
3. Olumsuz Cümleler ve Soru Cümleleri
Simple Past Tense’de olumsuz cümle yaparken veya soru sorarken yardımcı fiilimiz ‘did’ olur. Çok önemli bir kural: ‘Did’ veya ‘didn’t’ kullanıldığında, ana fiil her zaman yalın (birinci) halinde kalır.
- Olumsuz: I didn’t go to the park. (Parka gitmedim.)
- Soru: Did you eat your dinner? (Akşam yemeğini yedin mi?)
