Günlük hayatta sürekli olarak neleri sevdiğimizi, nelerden hoşlanmadığımızı veya iki seçenek arasında hangisini daha çok tercih ettiğimizi dile getiririz. 7. sınıf İngilizce müfredatında Preferences ünitesi, bu duyguları doğru kalıplarla ifade etmemizi sağlar.
1. Genel Tercihler ve Hoşlanılanlar
Bir şeyden genel olarak hoşlandığımızı belirtmek için like, love, enjoy ve dislike / hate fiillerini kullanırız. Bu fiillerden sonra gelen eylem (-ing) takısı alır.
- I like playing football. (Futbol oynamayı severim.)
- She hates doing homework. (Ödev yapmaktan nefret eder.)
2. ‘Prefer’ Kullanımı
Prefer fiili, iki şey arasında bir tercih yaparken kullanılır. Genel kural şöyledir: Prefer + doing something + to + doing something else.
- I prefer reading a book to watching TV. (Kitap okumayı, televizyon izlemeye tercih ederim.)
Burada dikkat etmeniz gereken en önemli nokta, ‘prefer’ yapısında iki seçenek arasına ‘to’ kelimesinin gelmesidir. ‘Than’ kelimesini burada kullanmıyoruz!
3. ‘Would Rather’ (Tercih Ederdim)
Daha spesifik veya o ana özgü tercihlerimizi belirtmek için would rather (veya kısaca ‘d rather) yapısını kullanırız. Bu yapıda fiil hiçbir ek almaz (yalın haldedir) ve iki seçenek arasına ‘than’ gelir.
- I would rather drink tea than coffee. (Çay içmeyi kahveye tercih ederim.)
Önemli İpuçları ve Karşılaştırma
Konuyu karıştırmamak için şu tabloyu zihninizde tutabilirsiniz:
- Prefer: Prefer + V-ing + to + V-ing (Genel tercihler için)
- Would rather: Would rather + V1 + than + V1 (Daha spesifik veya o anki tercihler için)
Örnek Diyalog:
Ali: Do you want to go to the cinema? (Sinemaya gitmek ister misin?)
