KİTAP BİZDEN NE İSTİYOR? (Türkçe Açıklaması):
Gökbilimci Nicolaus Copernicus'un hayatını ve Güneş merkezli evren teorisini (Heliocentric system) anlatan metni okuyarak, verilen yıllarda (1473, 1496, 1503-1510, 1543) hangi tarihsel olayların gerçekleştiğini yazmanızı istemektedir.

Copernicus metnindeki verilere dayanarak, sorulan 5 adet okuma-anlama sorusunu metne göre tam İngilizce cümlelerle yanıtlamanızı istemektedir.

Cevap: He was born in Torun. (O, Torun'da doğdu.)
2. What was his theory? (Onun teorisi neydi?)
Cevap: His theory was that the Sun is the center of the Solar System, and the Earth and the other planets orbit it. (Teorisi; Güneş'in Güneş Sistemi'nin merkezinde yer aldığı, Dünya ile diğer gezegenlerin onun etrafında döndüğüydü.)
3. Why did Copernicus talk about his theory with his close friends? (Copernicus teorisi hakkında neden sadece yakın arkadaşlarıyla konuştu?)
Cevap: Because people believed that the Earth was in the center of the universe and rejected other ideas; also he had to make a lot of mathematical calculations before publishing. (Çünkü insanlar Dünya'nın evrenin merkezinde olduğuna inanıyor ve diğer fikirleri reddediyordu; ayrıca yayınlamadan önce birçok matematiksel hesaplama yapması gerekiyordu.)
4. What did Copernicus do before his new theory? (Copernicus yeni teorisinden önce ne yaptı / ne okudu?)
Cevap: He studied law at the University of Bologna, studied medicine in Padua, and worked as a secretary and physician. (Bologna Üniversitesi'nde hukuk okudu, Padua'da tıp eğitimi aldı, sekreter ve hekim olarak çalıştı.)
5. When did Copernicus die? (Copernicus ne zaman öldü?)
Cevap: He died in 1543, after his theory was published. (Teorisi yayınlandıktan sonra, 1543 yılında öldü.)
